While the companies under Camp Family Ventures can trace their roots back to the early 1900’s, Western Power Products see’s its beginning in the late 1970’s after the family farming operations were established in the San Joaquin Valley in 1936 and the first representation of John Deere products in the late 1960’s with three John Deere Agricultural equipment stores.
In the late 1970’s Deere decided to establish a network of engine distributors to supply engines to local original equipment manufacturers and provide diesel power units for various agricultural and industrial applications. Western Engine Distributors was established in central California. At about the same time, CN Power Systems was established in northern California and northwest Nevada. A number of engine distributors were set up by John Deere Company during this time.
In the early 1990’s Deere developed and began to market John Deere Marine engines for Propulsion, Auxilary, and Generator Drive used in commercial fishing, work boat and limited pleasure boat applications. At that time, both Western Engine and CN Power began expanding into those applications and started setting up John Deere Marine Engine Dealers to sell and service these new Deere Marine products.
In May 2001 John Deere Power Systems approved the purchase of CN Power Systems by Western Engine Distributors. With the joining of the two organizations and the realization that the Distributor of Tomorrow would be much more than just an engine company, in 2002 the company name was changed to Western Power Products.
Western Power Products has expanded the family to include various engine lines over the years. In 2006, John Deere Power Systems expanded their offerings to include Funk Drivetrain Components. Now Western Power Products offers complete power train packages for virtually any customer need with engineering, fabrication, sales and product support.
Today, Western Power Products is a Factory Authorized Distributor of John Deere Power Systems including Industrial Engines, John Deere Axles, Funk transmissions, pump drives and planetary drives, as well as Electric Drivetrain Components. Additionally in service of our goal to be the premier complete power unit supplier in the industry, we provide and integrate multiple engine associated parts like PTO’s, cooling packages, water pumps, generators, hydraulic components, engine controls, telematics, exhaust piping, wiring harnesses, trailers, skids, enclosures, engine mounting and much more.
Serving our 5 state territory of California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, and Hawaii – we work with customers and Original Equipment Manufactures of all sizes by providing everything from bare engines and simple components to fully custom engineered, designed, fabricated and assembled engine and powertrain solutions.
Between our Bakersfield CA headquarters and our Woodland CA location, we have over 100,000 square feet of office and warehouse space which houses our sales and service operation and where we complete our application engineering assembly and testing.” With field service support from both locations, WPP is positioned well to augment the already stellar John Deere Dealer network and provide after-sales support to our OEM customers.
